Midwest Living's Editorial Guidelines Published on August 30, 2011 Print Share Prep Time: 30 mins Grill Time: 8 mins Total Time: 38 mins Yield: 4 sandwiches Jump to Nutrition Facts Ingredients 1 teaspoon steak seasoning, such as Kansas City-style 1 pound fully cooked center-cut ham slice, cut 1/2 inch thick 8 0.5 inch thick slices multigrain bread ½ 6.5 ounce container (1/2 cup) semi-soft cheese with garlic and herb 8 0.75 ounce slice Swiss cheese 1 cup fresh baby spinach or arugula leaves Olive oil French fries (optional) Directions Sprinkle steak seasoning over both sides of ham; rub in with your fingers. Grill ham on the rack of a covered charcoal or gas grill directly over medium heat for 3 minutes. Turn and grill ham for 2 to 3 minutes more or until heated through. Remove ham from grill and cut into four portions. Spread one side of each bread slice with semi-soft cheese. On four of the bread slices, layer a slice of Swiss cheese, ham, 1/4 cup spinach and another slice of cheese. Top with remaining bread slices, spread sides down. Brush both sides of each sandwich with oil. Place sandwiches, close but not touching, on the greased rack of the covered grill directly over medium heat. Put a 13x9x2-inch baking pan on top of sandwiches; weigh pan down with two bricks. Grill about 4 minutes or until lightly browned. Use hot pads to remove baking pan. Use a spatula to carefully turn sandwiches over. Place baking pan back on sandwiches; grill about 3 minutes more or until cheese is melted. If you like, serve with French fries.
