Midwest Living's Editorial Guidelines Published on November 2, 2023 Print Share Photo: Carson Downing Hands On Time: 20 mins Total Time: 1 hr Servings: 8 Ingredients 1 cup all-purpose flour ¾ cup regular rolled oats ¾ cup packed light brown sugar, divided ½ teaspoon baking powder ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon ¼ teaspoon salt ½ cup butter, softened 6 apples, peeled and sliced 1/2-inch thick (6 cups) Vanilla ice cream (optional) Directions Preheat oven to 350°. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, the baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Add butter and rub it in with your fingertips to make a uniform, crumbly mixture. In a 9-inch pie plate or a 2-quart square baking dish, toss sliced apples and remaining 1/4 cup brown sugar together. Top evenly with the crumb mixture. Bake until the top is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork, 40 to 45 minutes. Let cool a few minutes before serving—with ice cream, if you like.
